What can you do?

With your support we can achieve our goals. We are aware that the financial crisis, less money will be available for charity. Yet we find it does not make much of a difference. Apparently, our sponsors and donors believe that just because we are a small foundation with clear goals, their donations actually reach the right place.

The DFLN has been given an ANBI status. This means that DFLN is a registered charity (by the tax authorities 'public interest institutions') and will not have pay taxes on your donation. This also means that your donation is deductible from your income as the threshold of 1% of your taxable income exceeds donations.

Then there's Josje. A lady in her nineties who decided to include the DFLN in her will. We don't call her by her full name, but want to thank her for her generous gift. Her last words about her decision: "Now I can watch over the nuns enjoying what I gave them from above." In the future, her name will be shown on a prayer wheel to be built, so that every time when it is rotated, she will be remembered.

Despite the recession, the tip jar for Gephel monastery in Ladakh again well filled.

The guests throughout the season gave the large amount of € 980, -. This is a welcome addition to the study projects of the young convent. The nuns are all studying and learning this year as the first group of nuns in Ladakh, making sand mandalas.

Henk and Ada Knol also decided to increase their sponsorship to € 400, - because the cost of living in Ladakh have increased seriously.

We are grateful for their annual support.
