The Dutch Foundation for Ladakhi Nuns is a PBI* foundation, registered with number 811729266. This means that we are accepted by the Dutch Tax Bureau as such. It also means you can deduct your gifts form your income-taxes, and we don't have to pay income taxes. For 2014 the Tax Office requires a Financial Report and our Policy for the next year to be on our website.
*PBI = Public Benefit Institution
Donations tax deductible
Since 2014 under Dutch law there can be a direct grant agreement between a donor and an ANBI organization (a charitable organization in the Netherlands), without the intervention of a notary, hence the notary fees will not apply.
If you pay tax in another country and want to send a large donation to the Dutch Foundation for Ladakhi Nuns (DFLN), please check with your local tax office if there is a similar scheme in your home country, and whether a donation to the DFLN, a foundation registered in the Netherlands falls under that scheme.
The Dutch Foundation for Ladakhi Nuns and its statutes are approved by the Dutch tax authorities as ANBI Foundation. You can deduct the entire donation from your taxable income with such a grant agreement. Otherwise, this is only possible if all your collective donations to recognized institutions (ANBI’s) exceed the amount of one percent of your threshold income for a year. Therefore most taxpayers normally cannot make donations tax deductible. Depending on your income, you can with this donation agreement obtain a refund from the tax authorities in the Netherlands to up to 52 percent of the amount donated! As long as in the Donation Agreement an annual donation of a minimum period of five years was agreed.
This is the situation in the Netherlands - if you pay tax in another country, kindly inquire about the legal situation there!
