Ishe Spaldes obituary.

In  Nyerma the first nun deceased. Ishe Spaldes was one of the oldest nuns of the Nyerma nunnery and lived there from the beginning. Last summer she was reasonably fit. After a brief hospitalization, she died. She was somewhere in her eighties and despite her advanced age she was a powerful woman.

Her main characteristic features made her very recognizable. Due to her appearance her nickname was "monkey".

Spaldes Ishe was the one who always started singing the prayers in Nyerma. If she was not there it was clearly audible that there were hesitant efforts to sing and sometimes it was very out of tune. We will see who takes over this task.

In Buddhism, death belongs to life. Yet her death came as a blow to the other nuns, particularly because it is the first time a nun in Nyerma died. She was cremated, as is usual in Buddhism, after performing the usual rituals.

The monastery in Nyerma will still be a bit different without her.
