Dutch Foundation for Ladakhi Nuns

to support tibetan-buddhist nuns in Ladakh, India

News Ladakh from the board.

Today, the solar power systems were connected in Basgo, the nunnery which played host to the Dalai Lama’s visit . This project was funded with € 10,000 by the Triodos Foundation.

basgo-zon1-thWith the installers from Auroville, we spent two days in Basgo during the installation of the solar panels. At the time the supports for the panels were to be installed, the nuns also went to work. In the course of the very hot afternoon, the supports for the panels were mounted on the roof, this is really working together to create a bright future!

On the occasion of the birthday of Dalai Lama it was crowded but today it exceeded even that, I think there were over 200,000 people. All roads were clogged, one had to walk long stretches in the blazing hot sun to reach the event, but I passed through the various road closures and arrived pretty quickly due to my press pass access.

Today Aniek and I went to Nyerma, where five young girls were present. We were given a warm greeting by the older nuns.
